Tips To Care on Tie-Rod Ends

The tie rod end attaches to the steering knuckle on each front wheel on Rack and Pinion Steering.
On non-R&P steering, there is one attached to the steering knuckle on each front wheel and one attached to the long bar that controls both wheels for steering, called a Tie Rod Drag Link.
This link is connected to the pitman arm coming from the steering gear-box and also connected to an idler arm for stability purposes.

The little tie rod ends on non R&P screw into a sleeve with both right-handed threads and left-handed threads.
When you have the toe-in set on your vehicle, the technician can loosen two bolts and nuts and twist this sleeve¡...this makes the tires go out or in.
It is very important to have these tie rod ends greased every time you have the oil and filter changed in the engine.
The importance in greasing them is to keep them moving freely.
If they get dry they will wear out quickly.
If they wear out, they can come apart.
If they come apart, you won't be able to steer your vehicle. Not a good thing.
Now, grant you, on some of the newer vehicles the manufacturers decided to leave off the grease fittings.
These tie rods come pre-packed and will last a very long time.
But, you should have them 'checked ' at each oil change.
Some have a threaded hole for the grease fitting, but they have a small cap over them.
You can remove the cap and add a fitting so you can grease it.
Any time you replace a tie rod end, be sure to grease it, and the others if you can.
Take care of your vehicle so it will take care of you and your family!

Honda Civic Type R – An Obsession

Neither of Kelly Brook, nor great literature scholars but of a Honda Civic Type R. The thing I loved about the Honda was that the standard Civic was so boring to look at and drive that you seemingly needed at least 65 years of life experience before being able to own one. Don’t get me wrong, just because it was boring to drive doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good car, it was just very safe and sensible and, well it was for old people. The Type R badge didn’t just add a few thousand pounds to the price tag; it transformed the retirement home company car into a snarling piece of motoring exotica that I aspired to own one day if I studied hard.

I’d struggle to win the argument that it looks much different from the standard model, with 17 inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and twin exit exhaust the only obvious external differences. This however was more than enough for me to start salivating and by the time I read the performance figures I needed oxygen. A 2 litre VTEC engine lurked under the bonnet producing 197bhp, revving to a crazy 8,250rpm and dragging the car from 0-60mph in a mere 6.6 seconds. To put it more succinctly, it was as if Honda had strapped a rocket to a mobility scooter.
Inside you weren’t met with the most luxurious cabin but racing seats, white dials and a brushed aluminium gear knob offered further evidence that speed really was the only priority for this car. The gearbox is mounted on the dashboard which appears odd at first but it falls so easily to hand and changes so slickly, you’ll be converted in minutes. Despite it being front wheel drive, the car handled superbly thanks in no small measure to it’s expensive independent rear suspension (something Honda have skimped on with the latest derivative) and communicative feedback through the steering wheel.
Quite rightly in the little Honda’s lifespan (2001 – 2006) it became the biggest selling fast hatchback, smashing all modest targets Honda HQ in Japan had. Priced at a tad under £16,000 and delivering all you could want in a driving experience, this was hardly a surprise.
The big question then is, three years on from graduating from university do I have a Honda Civic Type R on my driveway? Um, no but my ‘I really want one of those’ radar is still twitching very strongly. The very exciting news however is that prices are now reaching a level where this extraordinary car is accessible to the majority – and very possibly me too. A low mileage four-year-old car is now valued at £8,000 (add £400 for air conditioning).
This being a Honda, there should be very little to worry about with a car of this age, the VTEC engine is one of the most reliable in the world and the car itself is well put together, so don’t expect to find doors hanging off. As with any used car though it’s important to check some key points.
Firstly the car was available in red, black and silver. If the one you’re looking at is white it’s an import from Japan which may have an extra 20bhp but will be difficult to insure, will depreciate quickly and will have your Honda dealer running for the horizon. The turning circle isn’t great on the Type R so check the alloy wheels for signs of a struggle against the kerbs and whilst you’re there, have a look at the side skirts for speed hump damage.
Other than that the Type R is as widely praised now as it was when new and with the new model now on sale this version should become more readily available. As a final plus point (if one was needed) it’s faster and handles better than the new model. Right I can’t wait any longer…I’m off to buy one.

History of The Great Ford Mustang

As far as the consumer is concerned, the history of the great Ford Mustang began when it was shown to the public at New York's World Exhibition. The prototypes had been in existence since 1962, with the Mustang 1 (T-5) being first introduced to the motor racing world at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix where Stirling Moss and Dan Gurney drove it for a few laps each as a demo.
In the early 1960s, Ford desperately needed a new car to compete with the sporty Chevrolet Corsair Monza, and its first attempt, the Falcon Future, failed to compete. A brand new car was needed, and the idea for the Mustang was born. It was sporty and quick and a four seater. It was appealing to youngsters, and the prototype was well received when shown at the motor racing circuits.
It went in production in 1964, and was an instant hit. Its launch on 17th April, 1964 was the beginning of what was to be the most popular car ever in American history, and it sold half a million in its first year. Its customers included every age and it was equally popular to men and women.

Many of its parts were taken from the failed Falcon, and its immediate success had as much to do with the almost perfect advertising campaign as it had to do with looks and speed. The advertising power of the three major television networks was used extensively, and with its distinctive mane and tail galloping across the red, white and blue of America the 'Pony Car' was the phenomenon of its age, representing the flavor of the 1960s more perfectly than its designers could ever have dreamt possible.
It was a car of its day that arrived with perfect timing. Later to be called the 1964 1/2, the original Mustang was available as a convertible and as a coupe, both with chrome wrap-around fenders, the distinctive chrome grill with running pony, and a lengthened hood. Although it claimed to have four seats, the back seat was a bit small and it also sported three tails lights on each side. It has sold a million by 1966, although before that the GT and fastback model had been introduced.
The car continued to progress, and by the end of the 60s had become longer by four inches, and a lot heavier than the original, much of this in response to the development of Chevrolet's Firebird and Pontiac. It was the Corvette, however, that brought the Mustang into the road racing arena. The Mustang was so popular, especially with the young, that Ford were desperate to race it against the Corvette. However, only production two seaters were allowed to race, and to enable them to do this at least 100 two seaters had be produced by January 1965.
This was achieved with the help of Mustang fan and racer, Carol Shelby, who modified 100 of the 2+2 models into GT 350 models, in the process re-equipping them to render them more suitable for racing. The suspension, wheel and brakes were all modified, and the cars were to become the basis of many future models that are even now are much sought after.
During the early 1970s the Mustang lost its way a bit and became a bit too big and unwieldy. The original grace and elan that so attracted early admirers was lost, and it becamejust another car. Part of this was due to emissions regulations, but sales dropped so much that Ford had to rethink its design strategy with the Mustang.
The Mustang II was introduced in 1974, and although it was small and vastly underpowered, it takes its place in the history of the car because it brought to a halt the drop in sales. It sold because of economy in fuel, and the 1973 OPEC fuel embargo. People were afraid that a gas guzzler would hurt their pockets, and so temporarily went for the smaller car. However, this did not last long, and 1975 brought back the V8 engine to the Mustang. However, although it had a 5 liter engine, the carburetor was too small and the catalytic converter combined with that to render it lifeless.
Then came a period of relative stability although there were a few trim changes. Fans must have seen the end coming because the late 1970s saw a slight increase in sales, rather than the drop that model now deserved. The Cobra II and King Cobra versions did little to spark a return to the glory days for the 1960s, and Ford made a last ditch attempt to rewrite the Mustang in 1979. The new Mustang was available as a coup' or fastback with a bit more room inside than the either the original or the ill fated Mustang II.
However, the running horse had gone, and the rear lights lost their distinctive three segments: this expanded to six, while the side scallop also disappeared. It no longer resembled a Mustang! Alterations continued to be made, and the California Highway Patrol found a use for a special coupe model as a high speed pursuit vehicle. With its 157 HP V8 engine, this car was used by a number of law enforcement agent up until 1993, when Ford killed them off.
The fans were wrong, however, and development continued as the Mustang conformed with the coming of fuel injection, air bags and other essential improvements, though the original concept had completely disappeared. In 2005 Ford finally ditched the ancient Fox platform and introduced that now used for the Lincoln and the Thunderbird. The newest Mustang has reverted to some of the original features, and it is a miracle that the car has survived so long.
Nobody involved in 1962 development team would have believed that the great Ford Mustang would still be around 45 years later.

Ferrari History

One of the most excellent sports car brands all over the world is Ferrari. In 1947, the company was founded by Enzo Ferrari in Italy. It was former known as Scuderia Ferrari. Ferrari supported and sponsored a number of race drivers as well as manufactured racecars, before venturing into the production of legal vehicles in 1947.
"1947 125 Sport" was the earliest road car of Ferrari. In order to finance Scuderia Ferrari, Enzo came up with the idea of producing and selling road cars. Although the period was highly profitable, Enzo was still hesitant with the idea he came up with. For him, people purchase his produced cars for prestige rather than the car's performance.

As time passed by, Ferrari came out as the top racecar producer and a leading race team. The company became successful without knowing that there are hidden tensions among its senior managers. Because of misunderstanding and conflict of ideas, Giralamo Gardini, sales manager of the company who had troubles with the intrusion of Enzo's wife, finally has decided to end his work with the company. Many other people even came along with the resignation of Gardini. They have decided to come up with a fresh and new company that will become Ferraris' competitor. With the many resignations the company had, there was a great loss.
Before a number of resignations, Ferrari was working on a project called "250GTO". This was handled by Mauro Gorghieri and Sergio Scaglietti. The purpose of the project was to improve things. Dino road cars and models such as "F275" and "Daytona" were considered best sellers in the market.
The company had a lot of rising competitors in the early 60s when Shelby Cobra, a V8 engine powered came out. Ford attempted to buy the company but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful in their motives. Ferrari also experienced great challenges with Porsche. This was because of the "Porsche908" model. However, it was still Ferrari 312PB models that conquered the World Sports Championship that took place in 1972.
1988 was the year of Enzo's death. Ferrari saw an enormous increase in old car values and even the sales of fresh new models. It was a comeback for Ferrari f1 team when Michael Schumacher made up his mind to sign up for Ferrari. From 2004 up to the present, Ferrari is still controlled by Fiat Group. The Fiat Group owns a 56% stake in the company. The rest, they say, is history. Ferrari history that is.

Lamborghini History

Lamborghini cars are much-loved by car aficionados around the world. They have excellent performance in terms of speed and built with style. The main characteristics of a Lamborghini cars are its tremendous style and tremendous speed. They are the number one rival of Ferrari. And if you happen to live in Beverly Hills you will likely see a scissor-door Lamborghini at malls , drive thrus and coffee shops. These kind of vehicles are designed exclusively for some customers.
The founder of Lamborghini, Ferruccio Lamborghini, who served with the Air Force mechanics corps with Italy during the World War II. And he was good in working with engines. When World War II was over there was a shortage of tractors. Lamborghini grabbed the opportunity and he bought military machines that were a surplus and changed them to tractors. It was a brilliant idea and his move resulted in a thriving business career as a young entrepreneur. And it made him a very wealthy man very quickly.

The tractor business of Lamborghini became more successful during 1950 and they expanded to heater and air conditioning business and was even a more flourishing business. Lamborghini was a car lover and he had a lot of sports car that were considered the best at that time. And because of his frustration of Ferrari cars he built a car that was more better from the Ferraris. He built a state of the art automotive factory in the small village of Sant'Agata. And his automotive engineer was Giotto Bizzarrini who worked with Ferrari before. The tractor business also faced hard times during the early 70's that led Lamborghini to sell his controlling interest of Automobili Lamborghini SpA to a Swiss industrialist. When the oil crisis came his problems worsened and led him to sell his shares that were left. But after ten years Lamborghini declared bankruptcy because the development of the military truck style Cheetah were not selling well.
But on 1980 the company rose back and the reason for this was the introduction and popularity of Countach. It is an over the top, fully styled with angles and vents sports car. In 1987 the Lamborghini was sold to Chrysler. There was also another change of ownership in 1994.
Lamborghini has already produced models like the four-seater Espada and other V8 sports cars. And cars such as the Countach and the Diablo are always recognized as Lamborghini cars. And the rest, they say, is Lamborghini history.

Free Body Kits Installing Tips - Major Style Points

An auto body kit is one of the most exciting upgrades you can do to your vehicle. A good aero kit or body kit can really transform the appearance of the vehicle, and the installer will determine if this is a good or bad transformation. I would personally suggest you find a reputable shop experienced in your type of body kit work. They should know how to work with the material you selected, and how to color match, prep and paint the kit. They should also know how to, if necessary, make adjustments to ensure a proper fitting. Your finished product will be as good as the effort put into it.Having said that, it is never a bad idea to learn something new. Before you begin, make sure you designate enough time to the project to install your body kit right the first time.

This type of body work requires a lot of patience if you are inexperienced at it. Here are some instructions to help you get started on the project. The first thing to do is to prep the body kit for painting. It will be much easier to work on before it is installed. If you do not intend to paint the whole vehicle, it may be wise to color match and paint the body kit prior to installation.Start by removing the pieces that will be replaced. This may include the front and rear bumper covers. You can find the bolts for the front cover in the fender wells and underneath the cover near the frame. Remove these bolts and loosen the cover. Depending on the application, be sure to remove any of the lighting that is attached to it, such as the headlights, side markers, fog lights, etc. Now check to make sure that there isn't anything else holding it in place, such as a grille or license plate holder.

Carefully remove the front bumper cover and set to the side. Keep the hardware handy, as you will need it later. Remove the rear bumper in the same manner, as well as the trim panel located just above the bumper (if applicable). Most cars won't have side skirts at this point, but if it does, remove them by removing the bolts that hold it to the vehicle. They are located on the back of the side skirts.Take your replacement cover and carefully align it to the car and check the fitting. Some of the kits will have 3M adhesive to help hold the kit in place during this process. You may find that the foam inserts are an obstruction to the new body kit. You can either remove them or trim them to size, depending on the application.

I have found that if possible, it is better to trim them to fit because they will help sturdy the body kit so it doesn't appear as flimsy. If you have done your research and purchased a good kit, then you should line up almost perfect. Make some markings as to where you will drill your holes. You can also use the old bumper cover to line up the holes but it may not be as accurate as the fitting approach. If you find yourself in a situation where the kit doesn't line up exactly, there are some things you can do to correct the problem. First, locate the problem areas. They will be most noticeable on the sides where it matches up to the fenders or in the very front where it matches up to the hood. If you notice one side has a bigger seam in these areas than the other side, try moving the cover to the larger seam side in very small increments until there is no longer a difference.

The seam should be the same width as other seams on the car, most notably the same size as the seam from the fender to the door, or the fender to the closed hood. Using these same widths for the seams will create a "seamless" look for the finished product. If your problem area is in the front, you will have to adjust the body kit in small increments until it lines up. If you have too larges of a seam, try gently pulling the kit from the two sides to tighten up the front. it should have a little bit of play in it since it is not bolted down. If the seam is to small, try pushing the sides in towards the front of the vehicle to free up any space. Once the front is adjusted, look to see if the sides are aligned property. If you are happy with the fitment, place the bolts in the holes and tighten them down. Start in the middle, and work your way out to the sides making sure that your seams line up properly. If your kit comes with 3M adhesive on the back side, adhere the kit to the car once the proper alignment is made. This will help hold the kit in place and allow the seams to be smaller in width.

Audi TT Club Haven Qattro

The place of the premiere could be better selected hardly. Not on any autofair, but at the legendary GTI meeting at the Austrian Wörthersee AUDI reveals a study on this weekend already again. , Where for meanwhile 26 years the full power friends of the cars made of wolf castle and Ingolstadt meet to the merry Angasen and are expected in this year more than 200,000 guests, those let all coverings fall and place Bavaria a TT on the stage, which into the Tuningszene fits like Hot Pants or the classical Voku Hila hair-style. All those, which regard the TT rather as a Schönling as for a sports car, want to obviously instruct the AUDI responsible persons with the HP-Event in Kärnten with the type “club haven Quattro” a better one.“Purism on Premium level” reads the work title, under which the designers made the Roadster the Speedster and also still put so the last remainder down of the Bikini.

Because a roof does not have this car no more, and of the windshield only a tiny, darkly sounded strip remains. Goods TT-drivers so far if necessary above without on the way, sit them now formally naked in the wind. The open two-seater looks already at first sight tremendously bad: The powerful single Frame grill is stressed with crosswise presented aluminum props for the first time in the width. Four enormous, vergitterte cooling openings cover the air requirement of the engine, and under headlights now the LED lights of the day headlight gleam grimmig ahead. The club haven Quattro works trained. Finally put on the axles 20-Zöller, on which AUDI 265er drew tires up. The trace of the sportsman is therefore eight centimeters more broadly than with the normal TT and the wheel housings curves like the upper arms of a Bodybuilders after the last Anabolika syringe.

Only the most necessary - also in the engine compartmentAt the same time the designers continued to simplify the silhouette of the car: The outside mirrors are clearly smaller, and there are not door handles any longer. No, one must climb nevertheless not as with a formula-1-car over the parapet wall in the cars, crowned by a circulating aluminum screen. Separate a pressure on the remote maintenance been sufficient, already play the Speedster “Sesam open you” and let the doors jump up. At the tail against it it may be again somewhat more: There the overroll bars were flattened, but but there are two windschnittige peaks on the useless covering box and far down two oval exhaust final pipes, how they strain otherwise only the S-models of the Ingolstädter against their backer. Automove newsEven under the hood maximum minimalism was announced. No concern, on achievement the developers did not do without.

On the contrary, from the S3 well-known gasoline direct injecting he turbo things come to the Porsche killer in the so far strongest version no longer on only 260, but now 300 HP and have thereby always. Even if AUDI keeps the technical data of the engine still for itself. But drum around it works for the engine compartment of a modern car strangely empty and offenherzig. No dust cover prevents the deep view in the Dekolletee, and no Nebenaggregate moves the four-cylinder on the Pelle. Air conditioning system? Active charcoal filter? With so much admission of fresh air one can give oneself that obviously everything.Bright aluminum and rumors of a small seriesThe interior is not completely so asketisch arranged. It smells also here rather after adrenalin as after the aniline of the Gerber.

But on comfort the passengers must hardly do without - at least if they fit comfortably into the running bowls and at the broad belts of point of four do not push. Then they enjoy the view of a abgespecktes running cockpit with perpendicularly standing pointers, stroke the sport steering wheel with flat lower surface or the Schaltknauf in the quadrant from the sports car R8, and let the view curve over more bright aluminum than in every other AUDI.The hand grips of the door, the steering wheel spokes and the footrests do not only gleam matt, but even the pedals were milled from it. In addition there is much black and somewhat oranges leather and as nice Gimmick a MP3-Spieler von Audis acoustic partner fears for & Olufssen, which fits directly into the middle nozzle of the ventilation and like a black diamond over the navigation system thront.

Still the club haven Quattro is a unique piece. But one thinks with AUDI hearing after seriously about the building a small series. The car might cost then clearly more than 50,000 euro. The idea of a TTS already geistert not in vain by the sheet forest for months. In addition the building of such a vehicle leaves itself - which the many hundred knitted sport exhibits show in the mountain idyl - hardly more to prevent. Because if AUDI does not make it, the Freaks among the mark friends makes it even.

Review BMW 650i - Sports Car Enthusiast

The BMW 6 series was relaunched in 2004 with the BMW 645i. This car was a two door, four passenger luxury sports car. This car is ideal for a sports car enthusiast who would prefer a larger, more practical car compared to the 650's 2 passenger, lighter peers. In 2006, BMW upgraded the 645i to a 650i by increasing the engine a little. When including options and taxes, the 650i tends to run at about $80,000, so it's not exactly cheap. Here are the pros and cons of the car:

Pros
Amazing handling: The car is amazing to drive. When you drive the car, you feel as if you have total control over the vehicle. A car such as the Mercedes CLS (also priced near $80k) just cannot match this car's handling. The BMW 650i definitely has the handling one would expect from a German-made luxury sports car.
Gadgets: The BMW 650i comes with BMW's Idrive, an all-encompassing electronic system. The Idrive controls the navigation system, music, air conditioning, as well as communication system. The Idrive also has voice command, making it easy to use when driving. Some believe the Idrive is a bit difficult to operate. That's hogwash. Within two weeks of owning the car, anyone competent enough to use a computer or a DVD should be able to operate the Idrive flawlessly. The Idrive is the gadget-lover's ultimate car toy.
Interior: The interior of the 650i is beautiful. It has modern, classy feel to it. Your taller passengers will certainly appreciate being seated in the front though, as the back is not exactly spacious.
Acceleration: With a V8 and 360 hp, the car isn't exactly going to be outrun by a Civic. The acceleration and amazing breaks can also help you get out of accidents that other cars wouldn't be able to avoid.

Cons
Reliability: Expect to make stops at the service center every now and then. While it is a wonderful car, it is prone to electronic and tire issues.
Price: At about $80,000, it's not exactly in the everyman's budget. But if you are willing to spend this much money on a car, the 650i is definitely a good one to check out.

Special Edition Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT

British motor sports tuner RML Group (Ray Mallock Ltd) wanted to give the special edition Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 with their exclusive engineering touches. The staff developed a new breed of a super car model based from the vehicle called the SLR 722 GT, a more powerful model that is built exclusively for race tracks. RML Group enhanced the car's suspension, braking system, aerodynamic parts, exhaust system (with oxygen sensor), and even the interior components. The SLR 722 GT was made through the request of SLR CLUB members to have a new SLR 722 model. The SLR CLUB is an exclusive organization that hosts events relating to the SLR model.
Going back to the new SLR 722 GT, this super car model now comes with an up rated supercharged AMG 5.5-litre V8 engine under its redesigned sleek hood. The engine is capable of pumping out 500 kW / 680 PS and pulls out a maximum torque output of 830 Newton metres. This power unit is also combined with a five-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel shift paddles suitable for racing conditions. A mechanical locking differential with a locking effect of 70 percent is also included for additional performance. With this powertrain package, the new SLR 722 GT can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 3.3 seconds and can reach an electronically limited top speed of 315 km/h or about 196 mph. This super car model also features a racing air filter and a new exhaust system.

RML Group also gave the SLR 722 GT with newly developed suspension system. These include new wheel location system for improved kinematics and lateral dynamics, modified stabiliser at the front axle, adjustable wheel camber, and shock absorbers with variable compression. The SLR 722 GT also comes with wheels equipped with central locks to allow fast tire changing during races.
Outside, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT features new body components and other design highlights from RML Group. The front apron with front splitter shows the car's agile characteristics along with wide wings, prominent side skirts. At the rear, the SLR 722 GT offers large rear diffuser and the fixed rear spoiler. This allows the SLR 722 GT to have an aggressive aerodynamic look and performance. An 18-inch light alloy wheels completes the overall exterior appeal of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT. Inside, the SLR 722 GT is equipped with a functional interior inspired by motor sports racing. These include rollover cage, redesigned instrument panel with a racing display, racing steering wheel, bucket seats, and six-point seat belts for safety.
Unfortunately, RML Group will only roll out 21 units of this modified super car model, and individuals who already ordered the SLR 722 GT are members of the SLR CLUB.

2008 Saleen Mustang - Well Known Powerful Car

Saleen is well known for the incredible Mustangs that they deliver to consumers. Each and every vehicle that they produce is one that many of us would love to get our hands on because of the craftsmanship, performance, and power that is put into it.
In 2008 Saleen revealed the S320E Mustang. It has been equipped with a 302 cubin inch engine that was specially made by Saleen and has been augmented with a patented Saleen twin screw and intercooler supercharger. With this engine the S320 can produce 620 horsepower and 600 pound-ft of torque.
“We believe that we are in the process of creating a legendary new car. It’s thrilling,” says Saleen President and CEO, Paul Wilbur. “It seemed to make sense that as we go into our 25th Anniversary as a manufacturer in North America that we make our best and most powerful car yet.”

This new model - which has been given the nickname “Extreme” - has been built with a number of high quality performance parts that reveal to consumers the race engineering heritage that they are known for. The unique engine that is placed inside the car is a forged crankshaft with forged connecting rods and forged pistons that have been blueprinted individually. It is also built with 5 axis CNC aluminum cylinder heads, high performance camshafts, and high flow fuel injectors.
Each one of the parts work together simultaneously with the Saleen twin screw supercharger. It is connected to a 6 speed manual transmission and Max grip rear differential - which allows it to reach from 0 to 60 mph in less then 4 seconds.
“This place represents a kind of automotive “mecca” for me. We are making limited volume, performance vehicles for people who really love cars, by people who really love cars. I cannot think of a better place to put my 35 years of OEM engineering history to work,” says Vice Chairman and Chief Technical Officer Chris Theodore. Chris Theodore is also known as the father of the Ford GT. “Now I am helping build great Saleen cars in the same factory that I architected for the legendary Ford GT.”
“This is the best motor that we have ever done,” says Powertrain Engineering lead Rob Simons. “We have really benefited from having Chris [Theodore] around. He brings perspective and experience to the company unlike anything that we have known prior.”
In order to get the best performance out of the this Mustang the engineering team used a standard 20 inch, 5 spoke forged aluminum allow wheels that are wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires. But in order to have large amounts of power added to the car you must be able to control it. Otherwise we would be all over the road with it. To have the type of control that we need engineers equipped the Extreme with a Saleen Racecraft suspension and a second generation, brand new Watts Link system that will help the driver stay in control of the vehicle when taking sharp corners.
The chassis system has been rounded by upgraded 4 wheel disc brakes and ABS and traction control. The performance brake system features 15 inch vented, slotted rotors, with 6 piston calipers in the front and 11.8 inch rear vented discs with single piston calipers in the back.

The program was part of an effort to win the Championship in 1969 and 1970. The new Racing Performance Parts line was conceived because there was an unmet need for engines built from a block stronger than original regular production engine blocks but more affordable than full race prepped blocks.

Despite its strength and capability, surprisingly affordable because of its high volume production. The suggested retail price for the Boss 302 block is affordable at $1,759, while complete engines range from $4,650 to $10K for the 500 horsepower 331 cubic inch engines. This had nothing to do with the Cleveland heads, as rules dictated a 302 cubic inch displacement, so stroking a 351 Cleveland block was not an option, so ford engineers solved this dilemma by mating a Windsor block with high flow Cleveland heads, a clover if you will, that had high revolutions per minute capability to make the most of the high turbofan engines offered by the heads, which was conducive of the large 4v ports and canted combustion chambers.

Suzuki Swift - Drives In A Very Mature Manner

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I guess there are plenty of examples of impersonators to back up this age old quote in modern society. The Beatles have been mercilessly plagiarised by scores of bands – most notably Oasis, McDonalds are constantly faced with hundreds of new fast food outlets each year and in the car world, the new Suzuki Swift is a cheeky take on the Mini. In fact Japan imitates the styling of European cars, blends it with their ingenious engineering and can produce such monumental cars as the Honda NSX, Nissan Skyline or new GTR.
The thing is though that in my experience, imitation isn’t the most sincere form of flattery, it’s just really annoying. My old neighbour and part-time friend was a prime example. If I bought myself a piece of cutting-edge fashion (that invariably looked awful) we’d look like twins as he’d buy the same clothing the next week. Having saved up my hard-earned cash from a god-awful summer job I treated myself to an all singing all dancing guitar amplifier. I knew what I was getting was the best having lost a day of my life to researching all about it on the internet. Imagine my joy when on the day it arrived, the delivery guy said “I’ve just dropped the same thing off next door too, odd co-incidence”. If only it was.

It got so bad that I’d say I wanted a CD or DVD and let him buy it, discover he didn’t like it due to being genetically different to me in every way but gender and then have him sell it to me for half price. Thanks to the money I saved buying things this way I was able to move out from my parent’s house and into my own, a safe distance away from Mr Copycat.
Imagine how BMW felt then when the modern Mini took over the cheeky supermini market within days of its launch. Pretty smug and wealthy is how I picture it. It wasn’t a big surprise really, when you consider firstly the massive following the original had garnered and that the small hatchback market was as interesting and appealing as sticking your head in the oven. The funky design was modern and striking but retained the key features of the original, such as the round headlights, square roof, and racing stripes. Combined with BMW’s build quality, a smidgen more practicality and competitive pricing the old fans flocked to the showrooms and were joined by everyone from trendy bachelors, business women, mums and everyone in between. In short, for the second time in history, Mini turned the small hatchback market on its head.
Popularity as we know breeds imitators. Unfortunately for BMW and their Mini, the latest Suzuki Swift offers nearly all the pros of the Mini, very few cons and a sack-load of money left over if you buy one. If I got angered at my neighbour, I can only imagine how the suits at BMW reacted to Suzuki’s unveiling of this.

The Suzuki is styled with cute headlights at the front, square roof and racing stripes – sound familiar? Despite its funky exterior, the Swift drives in a very mature manner with the car living up to its name thanks to petrol or diesel engine options that are very responsive. Driving around town, the Suzuki can nip into parking spaces larger hatchbacks only dream of. It’s light to manoeuvre and puts a smile on your face. On the open road things get better still. Minimal body roll, a quiet cabin even when hurtling along the motorway and responsive steering leave you praying for more bends in the road.
The interior is finished to a high standard and belies the fact you’re in a supermini rather than a larger saloon. There’s plenty of headroom thanks to a high roof and the seats provide plenty of back support, although lack of adjustment options on the steering wheel reach do leave you sitting as upright as if you’re a meercat. Rear boot space is limited compared to larger rivals but is still usable.
And now for the best bit: the Suzuki Swift starts at £8,299 a full £3,000 less than the entry level Mini. Make no mistake, for this price you’re not getting a Mini wannabe, but a bona fide supermini that’ll put a smile on your face whatever the weather and wherever you’re driving.
So will I be getting one? Most probably. I’ve mentioned it to my ex neighbour so I’ll pick it up for half the price in a month or two.

BMW M1 Homage Concept - Futuristic Interpretation Outlook

The BMW M1 Homage Concept is a truly unique supercar. Because it is a BMW we are not surprised by the power that lies underneath the hood. What took us off guard was the design that was used. This design was much different then what we are used to - but in a positive way!
The M1 Homage design is pulled from familiar elements taken from the BMW Design. It would be too much if they were too stray too far from what consumers are used to - but at the same time they have added some new schemes to it. BMW has brought together designs from both the past and the present.

The unusual color is one of the most dominant design to the surface of the concept and is the first thing that draw our attention to it. The body itself is built with a few trademark proportions that have been created with exciting and new details and surfaces that give a more futuristic interpretation. The front end of the concept has been styled following many of the graphic design themes that are associated with the M1 Homage Concept. Each element of this front end has a purpose. A good example of this is the twin kidney - which is a common feature for the BMW brand - but also helps to combine aerodynamic, safety solutions, and cooling-air routing.
The headlamps are different and more unique. They are a new example of the retractable headlights of the M1.

They are just like the ones used on the classic M1 and can only be seen when they are turned on. When they are not being used they are integrated into the design on the front end and will disappear into the recessed black cutline. These are similar to pop-up headlights. There are two dramatic lines that run from the front of the concept along the flanks that lead to the area where the engine compartment is. The flow of lines start in a straight line at the front end and lower to the optical centre of gravity. This helps to bring to light the low slung stance of the supercar.
In the middle of the car the lines break apart. This design helps people to focus where the power of the car is - the engine. The strong and sensuous sweeping lines that help to accentuate the mid-engine of the car. This design helps to focus on the mechanics that were used as well as the engineering skills.

New 2009 Cadillac CTS-V To Be Equipped With Corvette Engine

In 2004, Cadillac came out with the high performance CTS-V to compete with European sport sedans. The car has been known for its high performance engine with a high power output. The CTS-V’s direct competitors are the BMW M3 and the M5 as well as the Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG and the E55 AMG. Since it is going up against some strong competition, it is a given that General Motors will improve its performance for future model years.
For the 2009 model year, there have been rumors in the auto industry that the CTS-V will be equipped with a supercharged engine. Speculations about the presence of a supercharger for the CTS-V came after photos of the prototype CTS-V came out. The hood of the prototype has a bulge which suggests that a supercharger was hidden somewhere under the hood of the car.
One speculation as to the powerplant of the 2009 CTS-V is that it is equipped with a supercharged variant of the 430-horsepower LS3 engine used in the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. While another claim is that aside from a supercharger, the engine is also equipped with a Cadillac cold air intake system.

Another theory is that the Cadillac CTS-V will be equipped with a tuned down version of the 700-hosrsepower LS7 engine which will be used on the Corvette Z07. This means that the Cadillac CTS-V may have an engine with a power output of just 600 hp.
According to Edmunds.com though, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will not be supercharged but will use a Corvette engine just the same. The leading online source of auto information said that come 2008, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will be introduced in the market equipped with a 7.0-liter naturally aspirated LS7 engine.

The said engine can produce as much as 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The said power output is expected to give a remarkable acceleration and a high top speed for the 3,800 pound car. According to Edmunds, the engine that will be used on the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V is similar to the ones used by BMW in the E63 AMG. The advantage that the Cadillac has on the BMW is that the E63 AMG weighs about 4,000 pounds.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Cadillac and the Corvette takes another step in promoting the brands by making an appearance at this year’s Motorexpo which will be held from the eleventh up to the seventeenth of this month. The event will be held at London’s Canary Wharf.
Among the vehicles that will be displayed at the event are the Corvette Z06 Ron Fellows Edition and the right hand drive Cadillac SRX. Joining these two vehicles is the other right hand drive Cadillac model which is the Cadillac BLS. A left hand drive Cadillac Escalade will also grace the event with its presence.
The Corvette Z06 Ron Fellows Edition car was designed to celebrate Ron Fellows’ contribution to the Corvette racing program. The said limited edition car is equipped with an LS7 V8 engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The power from the said engine propels the car from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 199 miles per hour.
